What do you mean exactly? Use the correct terminology: as we go through this programme to ensure that you know what everything means in aerodrome standards - CONSISTENTLY. I wish I had known all of this when I started working in airside operations. I was a duty Operations Officer at a regional International Airport in the UK. I had just transitioned from air traffic control to civil airport operations. After seven years in ATC, I thought I knew what a runway was. Turns out there's a lot more to it than just saying clear land or clear take-off. This module familiarises you with visual aids, by far the biggest section of the aerodrome compliance programme. So often aerodrome operators or even designers, are overwhelmed by restrictions that can be imposed by visual aids, but they haven't actually studied what they need to instal against the operational requirement of the aerodrome. It will include markings, lighting, signs, and markers in this process, and take account of the performance based aerodrome minima. More examples of case studies.

Moving away from the physical aspects, lighting, signs and marking, we now need to think more in terms of the procedures, using the Module 3 compliance checklist ensuring that nothing is missed out. This module leads you through all of the procedures that are necessary for the operation ensuring that the procedures are organised., and that you are very clear about what is required, what you've got and avoiding confusion by duplication.

This is the first of the three final modules on Implementation. Promulgation includes both the aerodrome manual and the AIP. The module includes a composite checklist based on both ICAO and EASA supplemented by best practise. Topics covered include NOTAMs, SNOWTAMS (GRF), and ACR/PCR.

This module ensures that you can provide the procedures, and how you formulate, how you publish, how you ensure that all aerodrome operating staff comply with your procedures. It includes the key requirement for certification of an aerodrome - the aerodrome manual, and guidance on how to avoid duplication of the content. The module also covers the AIP, NOTAMS and SNOWTAMS.

This is the final module of the course, one of the shortest but also one of the most important. It leads you through the need for ongoing oversight, monitoring and review to ensure continuing compliance and safe operation.
