The Physical Aerodrome, Module 3 of Aerodrome Compliance, Standards and Certification

I had just transitioned from air traffic control to civil airport operations. After seven years in ATC, I thought I knew what a runway was. Visual Aids, Module 5 of Aerodrome Compliance, Standards and Certification

This module familiarises you with visual aids, by far the biggest section of the aerodrome compliance programme. So often aerodrome operators or even designers, are overwhelmed by restrictions that can be imposed by visual aids, but they haven't actually studied what they need to instal against the operational requirement of the aerodrome. It will include markings, lighting, signs, and markers in this process, and take account of the performance based aerodrome minima. More examples of case studies.

Procedures and Operations, Module 6 of Aerodrome Compliance, Standards and Certification

Moving away from the physical aspects, lighting, signs and marking, we now need to think more in terms of the procedures, using the Module 3 compliance checklist ensuring that nothing is missed out. This module leads you through all of the procedures that are necessary for the operation ensuring that the procedures are organised., and that you are very clear about what is required, what you've got and avoiding confusion by duplication.

Promulgation, Module 7 of Aerodrome Compliance, Standards and Certification

This is the first of the three final modules on Implementation. Promulgation includes both the aerodrome manual and the AIP. The module includes a composite checklist based on both ICAO and EASA supplemented by best practise. Topics covered include NOTAMs, SNOWTAMS (GRF), and ACR/PCR.

Oversight, Module 8 of Aerodrome Compliance, Standards and Certification

Having got everything running, you then need to ensure that there is oversight to ensure the standards are maintained. As part of the oversight module, we complete the compliance checklist and start exporting the reporting tools. I'll give you assistance in understanding audit techniques based on the ICAO auditing of States' aerodrome safety departments, exactly the same tools, exactly the same criteria, so that when you're involved in oversight of your own staff or other staff on an aerodrome you are doing it professionally, reliably, and consistently. Included in that is safety management and the auditing of safety management, and I provide some examples.

This is the final module of the course, one of the shortest but also one of the most important. It leads you through the need for ongoing oversight, monitoring and review to ensure continuing compliance and safe operation. There is a final assessment and certificate for those who have completed all modules.
